Chhichhore Turns 2: Mohammad Samad Remembers His On-Screen Dad Sushant Singh Rajput; Says, ‘He Treated Me As His Own Kid’-EXCLUSIVE
Sajid Nadiadwala’s Chhichhore, featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor, completes two years today. The Nitesh Tiwari directorial also featured Tahir Raj Bhasin, Varun Sharma, Naveen Polishetty, Tushar Pandey, Saharsh Kumar Shukla and Prateik Babbar, and told the story of seven college friends.

The film propagated the message that failure is nothing to be ashamed about and it is not the end of life. It taught people how to wear the tag of a ‘loser’ with pride and emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. The film also fetched a National Film Award for Best Feature Film In Hindi at the 67th National Film Awards. However, it also turned out to be the last film of Sushant to release theatrically before his untimely demise in 2020.

As the film completes two years today, Mohammad Samad, who played Sushant and Shraddha’s son in the film, remembers his on-screen father. “Whenever Sushant sir was with me, it felt really good. I loved talking to him. I went to his house even a few times to talk to him and sometimes even to party. So, I had a great bond with him and he treated me as his own kid on the sets of Chhichhore. Also, I had a great equation with Nitesh sir and Shraddha ma’am and that made it all a very wonderful experience,” he shares.

Ask Samad what he learned from his on-screen dad while working with him, and he lists a lot of things. “I learnt a lot about acting from Sushant sir. He would explain to me how to go through things and he did that with so much patience and calmness. He used to feel that since I was just an 18-year-old kid, he should explain things to me very calmly and carefully. During the hospital sequences, I had the prosthetics on and it used to give me a headache when put on, so he used to pay attention and keep a lot of care so that it doesn’t hurt me much. After that, he would even invite me to parties at his home. So, from him, I learnt to do your work, chill and acknowledge things that come your way,” he reminisces.
